Yeah, after some more use, I've noticed some of the same thing. But, like you say, it's more than likely something that will be addressed in later updates. Surprisingly, I haven't had any trouble viewing my site. Firefox 2 and some of the early 3 betas had trouble with it sometimes (part of the reason why I switched to Safari in the first place). That seems to have been addressed.

Anyway, that's for pointing that stuff out.

There are some changes in the rendering engine that makes some of my projects look unfamiliar (they adopted the Safari-esque rounded buttons, blue outlines for text fields, text looks a bit 'heavier', etc.), but overall I think it is an improvement.

Some users are reporting trouble viewing some Web pages, likely because of over-zealous browser-sniffing. I'm hoping all that gets ironed out over time.

Hi, Jay, Good article. However the link isn't working because the href attribute in the link tag is incomplete (right now it says "hre").
Here's a working version of the link: Is Obama a Mac and Clinton a PC?

Jay it's 4am, I couldn't sleep. I'm lying in my bed going over the "to-do's" that I never do. One of those to-do's I've been working on is a plan for my boys, ages 7,6 and 4, that will outline for me a series of ceremonies that I will hold for them that will provide for them a memory of how they progressed from boys into manhood. How did that lead me to you? I was searching family crests, my name is Drew Baker, and you apparently had a discussion about a crest but it looks like Vanderslice. Have you looked at Baker and do you have anything? I noticed that your a student at UTM, my family is from Bolivar TN, while I now live with my family in Little Rock.

You need to fix a typo in the code for your link to the NY Times article. You have
""
.

Other than that, what a sweet article! Great find!

Here's a short list of apps I use (all free) that I haven't seen on this page yet:

MacTheRipper
This is a great program for making exact copies of the DVDs that you own for backup purposes.

LiquidCD
I've found this CD/DVD burning app to be a bit more user-friendly than Burn, and it has a sleek interface. In fact, I've used this to burn a few things that Roxio's Toast was crashing on!

xPad
This is a notepad-type app where you can add, subtract and name the pages. It sounds kind of mundane, but real useful.

FrostWire
This is basically Limewire, but it's completely free, as in you don't have to pay for the "pro" version. Also, it doesn't lock up or crash.

Max
This amazing little app will convert your music files to practically any known format, AND it rips CDs.

Oh god, you gotta add Adium to your list, I can't believe it's not on there already, it is absolutely the best *IM client, hands-down. Lets you log in to all your IM accounts with a single app! AIM, Yahoo, Jabber, GMail, all of them.

Also, get MainMenu which adds an item to the menu bar on the right, lets you run all your system's maintenance tasks, which by Unix are run in the still of the early morning, but if your computer's not on then, these tasks never get run. So it's nice to be able to click it and select 'execute batch tasks' and let your computer clean itself up.

Also Tinkertool, which lets you modify some hidden system preferences. I really like being able to place BOTH up/down arrows at BOTH the top and bottom of my windows, and it does the same for left/right. Also lets you add 'Quit' to the Finder, as well as quitting and relaunching the menu bar, add a drive eject button to it, etc. Too many to list here.

MenuTimer is good, say, if you have to do laundry or time *anything* you can simply put a stopwatch/timer in your menu bar and it will give you either the default warning 'Time has run out!' I think, or you can customize it 'flip laundry to dryer,' or whatever you need to do.

SmallImage is great for extracting the metadata out of images (so they can load faster on web pages) as well as resizing jpgs. You can set it to resize them all to a specific height/width, or percentage of the original.

All of these apps can be found at versiontracker.com, and this is the advice of someone who has grown up with macs his entire life, I used an Apple ][+ when I was 5.

Mac man above me recommends Limewire but I warn you to stay away from it. Not only is stealing music morally wrong, Limewire has made my system do some crazy things, like lock up and basically crash. Don't use Limewire.
